Chapter 5:
Vegeta’s Past
*I apologize to all you Vegeta fanatics if this isn’t Veggie’s real
past, but it’s called fan fiction for a reason. *
**This section is only here to explain who Colifla’s mother is, so
if you want to skip it you can, but it might make the story confusing later
on. **
“ Father,” Prince Vegeta whined, “I don’t want to see some silly
girl.”
“Well you’re going to have to marry her someday, so you’d better
learn to like her.” King Vegeta was leading his son down a corridor. They
walked into the main living area where two females where waiting.
The older of the two looked tough and ready for a half-decent
fight. The younger one was hiding behind her mother’s legs. They would
have looked exactly like any other females, except for their extremely
long tails. Each was long enough to wrap around the owner’s waist twice.
“Ah,” King Vegeta said holing out a hand to welcome his guests,
“Gentla my dear how have you been?”
“Fine.” She sounded irritable, “Where’s your wife?”
“Her mother is ill and has been asking for her. Is this you’re
daughter?”
“Yes. Colifla, bow to the king.”
“Yes ma’am.” She stayed fairly well hidden as she bowed to the
king of the Sayains.
“I trust you’ve met my son already.” The comment was directed
at Gentla, but Colifla answered.
“No sir,” She said timidly, “I haven’t.”
“Well then, I suggest you introduce yourself Vegeta.”
“Yes father,” Vegeta said sarcastically. He stepped forward to
meet Colifla properly.
She shrank back. Something about this boy scared her. “ Well,
go on Colifla,” her mother coaxed, “Don’t be rude.”
“Yes ma’am.” She took half a step forward Vegeta had stopped
halfway between his father and Gentla. Colifla came close to him.
“Well,” King Vegeta said, “We’ll leave you two alone for a bit
to get acquainted.”
“But father…”The Prince turned to his father.
“Vegeta.” There was enough warning in that tone for the entire
Chinese Empire so, the prince took head and kept quiet.
Colifla looked to her mother. There was nothing there. Simply
a look that said 'do it now because it’s for your own good’. Colifla didn’t
understand, but she didn’t object either.
The two Adults left the room. As soon as Vegeta was sure that
the two of them were out of earshot he said, “Man! I can’t believe this.
I have better things to do than sit around all day talking to a girl.”
Colifla ignored him, but was eyeing the piano in the corner of
the room. She walked over quietly and sat down on the bench. Then she began
to play a song that Vegeta had only ever heard his mother play.
“How do you know that song?” Vegeta asked coming closer to the
instrument.
“My father taught me to play before he was murdered by Freeza.”
She said simply. As if none of this were of any consequence.
“Your father must have been a weakling then.” Vegeta turned his
nose up at her.
“Would you like to rephrase that?” She asked staring directly
into his eyes.
“No, I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with what I said.”
“Well, I do. My father was not a weakling.”
“He must have been to be destroyed by Freeza.”
“Take it back.” She said firmly.
“No.” If this was going to get into a fight he was going to win.
“Take it back or I’ll be forced to hurt you.”
“Ha. You’re just a girl.”
“Take that back.” She stood up from the bench.”
“What if I don’t want to?”
She didn’t answer. She wasn’t going to play this game with him.
She simply jumped up and flipped over his head. Then she kicked him in
the small of the back, “Then I might have to do that.”
Vegeta was on the floor and guards were filing into the room.
Vegeta was out of breath so it took him a little longer than expected to
tell the guards that she meant no harm and that they were simply playing
a game.
