Chapter 2:
What’s This Feeling?

“What?!” Vegeta yelled, “You can’t be. She….”
“I’m her daughter. And I don’t think that we need to make anything of it, yet.”
“Vegeta” came a questioning tone from Bulma, “Who was Colifla.”
Vegeta looked as if he were about to throw up. It was painfully obvious that he didn’t want to answer this question. So, naturally, he was saved by the only one in the room that could have saved him. “She was my mother, the rest is unimportant, for now. Miss,” Colifla turned to Bulma, “you wouldn’t happen to have a scouter would you?”
“Um…”Bulma began to dig in the drawer behind her, “Here it is.” she pulled out a homemade scouter with a red eyepiece and handed it to Colifla.
“Thank you.” She put it on and looked skyward, “Alright,” She murmured to herself, “If they’re fourteen light years away and they’ll reach Teros in two weeks, then at top speed they’ll be here in…” She went on calculating different numbers until… “Three months.” She pulled the scouter off and headed for the door.
“What about three months?” Trunks asked.
“Well, I have three months until they reach this planet and try to take me back.”
“Why wouldn’t you want to go back to your father?” Goten asked.
She faced him and her expression grew deadly, “I have my reasons and you don’t need to know them.”
 “R-right,” Goten faltered.
“If you all will please excuse me, I have work to do.”
“What do you mean ‘I’?” Goku asked.
“I mean exactly that. I am not going to bring my burden down on your shoulders.”
“Why don’t you let us help you?”
“Because I don’t need you risking you’re lives to help me. It’s not fair to you and I don’t want your deaths on my shoulders.”
 “He can’t be that strong.”
Colifla turned and was now facing Goku, “Kakarott, do you know what a Super Sayain is?”
 “Yeah.” He said blankly.
“Well, Aspro has reached several levels beyond that. He is what we like to call Super Sayain level four.”
All the males dropped their jaws. Bulma looked plain scared, “But how can he be that strong?” she whispered.
“He trains everyday for no reason at all. He works to make himself better and expects every one on the ship to do the same. I’m the strongest on that ship next to him and I can barely go three.”
“Well, then,” Goku said with a slight smile, “we’ll have to train harder. Let’s go Vegeta.”
“You can’t do this!” Colifla yelled, “You’ll all be killed for no reason.”
“You’re wrong girl.” Vegeta hissed, “I am the prince of the Sayains and if this Aspro thinks he is going to be stronger then me he’s got another thing coming to him. Let’s go Kakarott. Gravity room three.”
“Right.” The two older males stepped out of the room.
“Well, I guess you two will want to train too?” Colifla asked.
 “Yup.” Goten said
“You’re welcome to come with us if you’d like.” Trunks gave her a hopeful smile.
“I think I will. Perhaps I can teach you something.” She smiled back and then turned to go.
“Where will you be staying young lady?” Bulma asked.
“I will be staying wherever the wind carries me.” She said firmly.
“You can have a room here.” Bulma smiled, “Room 16 is open.”
“Thank you.” With that, she left.
Goten turned to Trunks, “What just happened?”
“My Mom understands a lot more about Sayain pride than you think.” A small smile spread across his face, “Come on Goten. This will be fun.” He walked out the door. Goten was close behind him.
When they got outside they were surprised to see that Colifla had waited for them. She seemed calmer, and when she spoke, her tone seemed gentler and more compassionate, “You guys probably aren’t comfortable calling me Colifla. So if you want, you can call me Crystal.”
 “Why Crystal?” Goten asked.
“Because that’s what my name means in your Earth language.”
 “Oh.”
“Well, are you two ready?” Colifla dropping into a stance.
 “Ready,” Goten said.
 “Willing,” Trunks added.
“And able!” The chorused as they ran to wards her.
“Than catch me, if you can.” She jumped backwards and flew in to the air. The two boys didn’t completely understand, but they followed anyway.
The tree of them flew for nearly two hours. Each time Trunks or Goten got close to her, she would speed off and they would fall back. Finally she stopped. “You two tired yet?”
 “Yeah,” Goten huffed.
“Never!” Trunks charged. Colifla continued flying around.
“Trunks it’s break time. Calm down.”
“Not till I catch you!” he said putting on an extra burst of speed. She allowed him to get close to her. The she stopped and tried to go over his head. He grabbed her by the ankle and brought her down.
“Congratulation Mr. Brief, You’ve caught the girl.” She said as she hung upside down in the air.
He smirked and let go of her, “I win!”
Goten laughed. Colifla rolled her eyes and flew down towards him. Trunks remained in the air.
“You challenged him?” She asked getting very close to his face.
“Yeah.” Goten had his father’s goofy smile plastered on his face.
She smacked the back of his head, “You idiot! He is the Prince-ling. You knew he would win. Why did you even try?”
Trunks was watching with a very curious look on his face. What is she playing at? He wondered. Goten looked up for help, but there was none.
“Well, Trunks is my friend and there should always be a little competition between friends. Right?”
“Why are you asking me? I asked you the question.” She had a firm tone. The same tone she’d had earlier with Vegeta and the others.
Goten was ready now, “Trunks is my best friend and we always compete with each other.” He didn’t sound confident, but he looked it.
Colifla glared at him. Trunks began to speak, but she stopped him. Then her glare turned to a smile, “That is probably the best answer I’ve ever heard. Where’d you learn that?”
“My big brother, Gohan, says that’s why my Dad fights with Vegeta.”
“You’re brother is a very smart man.”
Goten looked down. Colifla was sure he was embarrassed, “Thanks.”
“Now, whada ya say we all take a break?”
 “Okay.”
 “How about you Trunks?”
“Sure.”
The trio trained together for the rest of the day and then went their separate ways. When Trunks and Colifla reached Capsule Corporation, they were both hungry. This was a dilemma because they found a note on the refrigerator that said, ‘Trunks, you father and I went out. Bra is at Gohan’s with Pan. Go ahead and make dinner for you and Colifla. Love Mom’
“Aw man!” Trunks said when he found the note.
 “What?” Colifla asked.
 “I can’t cook.”
 “So what’s the problem?”
 “I can’t cook.”
 “I can.”
“Yeah, but can you cook good food?”
“Of course I can! Why wouldn’t I be able to?”
“Oh, I don’t know, you did live on a ship full of nut cases who-“
“Look kid.” Colifla said firmly, “You don’t know anything about it, so don’t talk about it okay.”
“Sorry, I didn’t know you where so touchy about the subject.”
“It’s okay,” Her tone was softer now, “I’m just a little upset that’s all.”
“Well, how about some food for thought?”
“Bad pun but I get the point.”
They pulled out pots, pans, and ingredients. Colifla made rice and something that looked like curry sauce. Trunks made a mess and got in the way until she finally shooed him out of the kitchen. When she had dinner ready, she called him in, “Trunks! Food!”
In a flash he was there, “I’m ready!”
She laughed at him, “You know where I come from we have a saying.”
 “What is it?”
 “Yetoa do na echto.”
 “What does that mean?”
“ I’m not sure of the exact translation, but it comes out to be something like ‘you should always be ready’.”
“That’s very interesting-“ He was cut off by a very loud growl, “Sorry, he said, but I’m hungry.”
She laughed again, “Alright, alright, I’m going.” She disappeared into the kitchen and came back out with two trays each tray had two bowls. Each bowl was filled to the top with rice and the strange curry sauce. She set them down at the table and said, “Dig in.”
“Thanks Crys.” Trunks reached for the nearest bowl. It was demolished in two minutes flat and he was on the next one. Colifla finished her first one quickly, but moved slower to the second one. Trunks was halfway through his second bowl and leaned back.
 “Wow, I’m already full.”
“What do you mean already, you ate nearly two bowls of this stuff.” Colifla dumped her leftovers into his bowl and picked up all the dishes.
“I mean that normally I eat a lot more than that, especially when I’m really hungry.”
“I made mine a special way. One bowl is the usual amount for a Sayain.”
“Wow, you’ll have to teach my mom how to cook line that.”
“I will. She has two of you to take care of.”
“You know,” Trunks said playfully, “They say that the only way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.”
“I expect that goes double for Sayains.”
“You bet.” He had a sly grin on his face.
“Well, I do say,” Colifla put on a fake southern accent, “you’ve just made a pass at me haven’t you?”
Trunks blushed and looked down. Colifla took the dishes into the kitchen. She set them in the sink and began to clean up. Trunks came in for another try, “You want some help?” He asked timidly.
She looked into his eyes. Wow, she thought, he’s got really pretty eyes. He probably thinks I’m a complete goofus though.
Wow, Trunks thought at the same time, she’s so beautiful. I’ll bet she thinks I’m a complete goof.
Then, at the same moment, they realized they were staring at each other. They both looked away, “Yeah,” Colifla said to break the ice, “I’d love some help.” He smiled and at the same time they thought, YES!!!!.
*****
Once they had finished cleaning the kitchen Trunks showed Colifla to her room. They sat there for a long time talking. They talked to each other about everything from senzu beans to what they wanted to be when they where older. This is what they were talking about when they heard Vegeta enter the house below.
 “Boy!” he yelled.
“Coming!” Trunks yelled back. He ran through the door between the two rooms like lightning and down the stairs. Colifla strained here ears to hear their conversation.
“What did you two do to the kitchen?” Bulma asked.
 “Nothing.” Trunks sounded worried.
“Well, you must have done something wrong then.” Vegeta grunted.
“No, I swear, the only thing that happened was that Crystal ma-“
 “Who is Crystal?” Bulma asked.
 “Girl!” Vegeta yelled.
“Coming!” Colifla yelled back. She ran down the stairs and nearly into Vegeta and Bulma, “Yeah?”
 “What happened?”
 “Whada ya mean?”
“I mean exactly what I said. What went on while we were gone?”
“Well, I made dinner and then Trunks helped me clean up the kitchen and then he showed me where my room was and then he went into his room and I wasted away the time staring out my widow and calculating.”
Trunks tried to look as though none of this were new to him, “That’s what I was trying to tell you.”
“Honestly Vegeta, I don’t see why you’re so worried.” Colifla said.
“Hold the phone.” Bulma interupted, “Who is Crystal?”
 “I am.” Colifla said.
 “No, you’re Colifla.”
“That’s my other name. You see, it’s similar to your friend Kakarott. All the Sayains know him as Kakarott, but you know him as Goku.”
“Okay,” Bulma inserted to show she was listening.
“Well, My Sayain name is Colifla, but I thought that it might be easier if you called me Crystal.”
 “Why Crystal?”
“It’s the translation of my Sayain name.”
“It’s the translation of her Sayain name.” Vegeta and Colifla were almost in unison.
“Oh, okay, I thought that Trunks might have picked up another girl.”
“Does this happen often in your family?”
“No. But sometimes I worry about that boy.”
“Oh, well if you will all please excuse me, I’m going to get in the shower.”
 “Sure.” Bulma said.
“I’m gonna go to my room.” Trunks said.
“No you’re not.” Vegeta said firmly.
“On second thought, I think that I’ll stay down here a bit longer.”
Colifla laughed silently as she went up the stairs and into the bathroom that she shared with Trunks.
